Hello,

Tomorrow (sunday) morning, the server will be offline for some quick maintenance. I can't give you exact times but it won't take long because the new server can do things much quicker. I hope you won't cause to much inconvenience.
We try to improve the stability in the couple next weeks and this is the first "overhaul" as you might call it. Oh, and for those who have missed it, a new account management panel is available. You can login using your in-game account and acces features like character unstuck and account transfer.

Cheers,
Ethan

Hello,

Things can go faster than you expect. The server is already running and we prepare putting all the data from the current server, to the new one which can lead to some downtime.
Stefan is still working on the configurations but I already had a moment to play with this brand new server. I this time I had the chance to compile the game server. While the old server did his compiling job in two hours, this one does it in less than 10 minutes. Here are some of the specs:

OS: Debian 5.0 (stable) (64bit)
Processor: Intel© Core i7 920
Memory
: 8GB DDR3

I expect you can play on the new server in a couple of hours so we can copy the maps and database. The new server is in a new database center so you will have to change your realmlist.wtf to:

set realmlist realm.muppets-on-speed.net

Cheers,
Ethan

Hello,

The last few days we had a really frustrating lag issue. We did our best to the lagg, but we did not succeed. Although we have decreased the amount of lag in greater or lesser extent, it was not possible to get it back to normal. Some of you noticed that Addons could be the problem because they request data from the server, but unfortunately appearances are deceptive. The Addons tell you that it is gathering data from the server, but it doesn’t say which one. Our server does not allow/support data requests that are not certified by the server itself. Let me put it this way, the server asks for data and your client gives it back, all the other data that gets received will be blocked or get lost in void.

The issue will most probably, as you might have guessed yourself, lie within the new patch. Although you mostly won’t notice it, every patch and update bring new features with them to improve stability or to keep up with retail. We think that one of those new features requires more dataflow, and that doesn’t have to be a real issue, but when one of the hardware pieces form a so called ‘bottleneck’ it is. One our hardware pieces can only support a certain amount of traffic. The remaining traffic gets written into a buffer and, because the data comes in faster than it gets processed, that buffer gets filled up real quick with lin-game lagg as result. A logic solution would be replacing that piece of hardware, but that would be turn out to be quiet expensive. A cheaper and better option was switching to a whole new server (which was inevitable anyway), which is supposed to be up this week..

Well, this was all the news we can give for now, but we will keep you informed here or on our chat.

Cheers,
Ethan & Stefan-

Hi,

The server is updated to the most recent patch, namely 3.3.3. To be able to login again, you must update your client to 3.3.3(11723) also.
Don't forget to check your realmlist.wtf after you updated the client. Maybe also worth mentioning is the fact that your client no longer asks for your account name when you want to login, but it asks for your battle.net e-mail adress. No worries, You can login by just using your normal account name like you used to do.

Have lots of fun,
Ethan.

Hello,

You might be wondering when the new update will come and why I'm not online so much. Well actually I'm not online because of the update. I'm already playing on 3.3.3 with the test-server but there are a few issues with this patch and it might take some time to solve them, especially when I go on holiday for one week (30 april - 7 may). I bet you won't spot me in-game until I've updated the main-server.

Cheers,
Ethan
